Mens Scramble 2009

2009 Four Person Open Scramble

It was another gorgeous day for the annual Camden Braes Four Person Open Scramble on Aug. 8 th . The course is always set up at its most difficult for this tourney, and this year was no exception. Tight pins and tees pushed back to the tips made this a slightly different course than the one that the members are used to playing. That being said, there were some impressive scores in the tough set up.
At the end of the day, there were three teams tied atop the leader board at 12 under. This meant that, as usual, the groups would have to go to a sudden death playoff, playing #1 and then #18. The group of Brian Mulville, Adam Leadbeater, Bill Leadbeater, and Travis Merkley missed their birdie putts on the first hole, meaning that they were done for the day. The other two groups moved on to 18 and the team of Rick Jaynes, Paul Gauthier, Desi Sedore, and Germaine Landry spanked their drive past the 150 marker. The team of Brian Wolfram, Jamie Leach, Derek Baker, and Jim Mulville had to settle for a drive which left them over 200 yards from the green, and slightly under a tree. They managed to get it within 20 yards of the green, and then got up and down for their par. After their monster drive, the Jaynes team knocked it on the green, and made a nervy 20 footer to take home the title. That clutch putt got them up to the ginormous prize table first, and gave them bragging rights for the next year. As usual, all of the teams played great, and made this event a special one, once again.
